<p>Do Kwon’s associate- Daniel Shin – reportedly visited a South Korean court to answer key questions related to the Terra failure. One of Terraform Labs’ co-founders – Shin Hyun-seong (better known as Daniel Shin) – reportedly appeared in a South Korean court to be interrogated regarding his potential role in the collapse of the project’s native token – LUNA – and its algorithmic stablecoin – UST – last spring. The crash prompted investor losses worth approximately $40 billion. The main culprit behind it – Do Kwon – was recently arrested in Montenegro after being on the run for several months. Kwon’s Right-Hand Man Being Grilled According to the report, Shin arrived at the Seoul Southern District Court on March 30 to give important information that could shed more light on Terra’s downfall. However, he remained silent when reporters asked him the following questions: “Do you admit to the allegations of solicitation for adopting a Tmon payment method?” and “Is it true that you issued it despite knowing the possibility of Terra and Luna collapsing?” The Korean authorities previously accused him of conducting numerous offenses, including violation of the Capital Markets Act, the Electronic Financial Transactions Act, the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes, and more. The Seoul Southern District Prosecutors Office also suspected Shin of gaining illegal profits before the LUNA/UST failure. Specifically, they claimed he stored LUNA tokens without notifying the relevant watchdogs and later sold them for $106 million. Law enforcement agents confiscated those funds in November last year. On the other hand, Shin said he cut ties with Terraform Labs in 2020, claiming he had no fault in the multi-billion collapse: “I left (Terraform Labs) two years before the collapse of Terra and Luna and have nothing to do with the collapse.” Do Kwon’s Situation After supposedly hiding in multiple countries for several months, the 31-year-old developer was finally detained in the Balkan nation of Montenegro earlier this month. The arrest occurred at the Podgorica airport, hinting that Kwon might have been preparing to flee to another country. He was carrying falsified Belgian identification and a forged Costa Rican passport. US prosecutors were quick to blame him for the Terra demise and charged him with securities fraud, commodities fraud, and conspiracy shortly after the detention. Montenegrin magistrates required Kwon to remain under custody on local soil for an extended period of 30 days, but his legal defense vowed to appeal the decision. It remains unknown where he will face justice, however, chances are high that he will be deported to either the USA or South Korea.</p>

<p>Ethereum’s overall outlook is bullish, but the price is currently facing significant resistance and struggling to surpass it. Considering the recent action, a short-term rejection is possible before the next trend. Technical Analysis The Daily Chart Ethereum bulls are having trouble pushing the price above the significant resistance region of $1.8K. After reaching this crucial range, Ethereum started consolidating with no clear direction, resulting in dull price action. This indicates a battle between sellers and buyers, and a breakout from this range will likely determine the short-term direction of ETH. Nevertheless, the clear significant bearish divergence between the price and the RSI indicator suggests that there is a higher possibility of the price experiencing a short-term rejection before initiating the next bullish rally. The 4-Hour Chart The future short-term direction of Ethereum’s price remains uncertain, with recent action offering no clear indications. However, there are two crucial levels of support and resistance that Ethereum is facing: the $1.7K level as support and the channel’s upper trendline at $1.9K as resistance. A break above the channel’s upper trendline would signal a bullish turn in the long-term outlook. Conversely, a sharp decline and a fall below the mid-boundary level could indicate a bearish trend, with the next level of support being the $1.5K mark. On-chain Analysis This graph demonstrates the 14-day moving average of the Funding Rates metric alongside Ethereum’s price. Over the past few months, the latter has shown a bullish trend, and the overall market sentiment has turned positive. This shift in sentiment is reflected in the funding rates metric. However, during a recent shakeout, the funding rate metric also plummeted and dropped below 0 for a short period of time. Yet, after another bullish price rally, the metric has also reclaimed 0 and turned green, indicating bullish sentiment over the market. Nevertheless, Ethereum’s general bias is bullish for the mid-term, and the metric should be monitored closely to prevent losses due to sudden price drops. </p>

<p>The RESTRICT Act could theoretically be abused to ban Americans from using Bitcoin, according to experts. A controversial bill to ban the popular social media app TikTok could potentially be used to clamp down on crypto, say legal policy experts at Coin Center. The crypto-focused non-profit claimed that, in extreme cases, the legislation could be used to “block Americans’ access to open source tools or protocols like Bitcoin.” A Silent Attack On Crypto? The Restricting the Emergence of Security Threats that Risk Information and Communications Technology Act (aka RESTRICT Act), introduced on March 7th, would give the Department of Commerce broad authority to regulate tech products produced in countries with adversarial relations to the United States. Specifically, the department would be required to investigate and prevent uses of such technology which involve adversarial interests, and which pose a national security risk to the United States. According to Coin Centre, the bill’s language could be open to an overly broad interpretation that prevents Americans from accessing “entire classes of technologies,” whether or not foreign adversaries have an interest in the technology. “We would object to an overbroad interpretation of “interest” wherein the Secretary attempted to argue that the entire class of all Bitcoin transactions, for example, is a class of transactions in which U.S. foreign adversaries have an interest,” read Coin Centre’s statement. The non-profit likened the new legislation to the currency Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC) regime, which allows it to block Americans from transacting with sanctioned foreign powers. OFAC came under scrutiny last August when it added Tornado Cash’s immutable smart contracts to its list of sanctioned entities, which Coin Centre argued could be a violation of the First Amendment. However, unlike OFAC’s powers granted under the Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA), the RESTRICT Act doesn’t contain a carve-out for protected speech activities, nor does it require the President to declare a national emergency before preventing transactions. “A broad and discretionary power to ban and disrupt all manner of information technologies should not be wielded without appropriate oversight and opportunity for review,” wrote Coin Centre. Regulatory Pressure on Crypto The crypto industry has been targeted with all manners of lawsuits and legislation this month that critics argue could push the emergent sector overseas. The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) slapped crypto exchange Kraken with a $30 million fine last month for failing to register is staking services as a security. Last week, the agency targeted Coinbase with a Wells Notice for providing a similar product. Regulators including the Treasury Department also forced Signature Bank to close earlier this month – one of the United States’ most crypto-supportive banks. A former congressman and board member for the bank, Barney Frank, claimed the regulators did this deliberately to send an “anti-crypto message.” </p>
